Barbara Shepard trained with Thomas Attlee at the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy, London in 1993. Subsequently she has studied at an advanced level with Franklin Sils at the Karuna Institute, Devon:
Skills Enhancement (1994), Birth Dynamics (1996), Craniosacral Dynamics and the Breath of Life (2000), Epigenesis, Epigenetic and Embryological Formation (2001);
and with Mike Boxhall at the Centre for Alternative and Environmental Research (CAER), Cornwall on Working with Insecurity (2002).
She is a member of the CranioSacral Therapy Association (CSTA)
Barbara trained in Anatomy Physiology and Massage at Calderdale College, West Yorkshire (1993) and completed a Counselling Skills course with Elizabeth Specterman in London (2001). She has trained in a naturopathic approach to medicine with The College of Natural Nutrition (2002-3).
She has gained an understanding of body energetics, posture, movement and breathing techniques through her study and practice of Eastern disciplines: Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Meditation, with various masters over the past 35 years.
Barbara first studied and worked in the arts as a designers, a mural artist and teacher and has had a number of exhibitions. She also completed an MA (1991) in which she researched into the nature of the female psyche and the relationship between gender, health and culture.
She has been studying movement and dance, especially Egyptian Dance, with the Raqs Sharqui Society (1994) and the Hilal Art Foundation (2000).
Within her training and work as a therapist she has been particularly concerned with the care and treatment of women and babies during pregnancy, and aftercare with mothers, newborns and children.
